Learn to Skate
We are very excited to offer Learn to Skate through a partnership with the Greater Pensacola Figure Skating Club!
If your child has never ice skated before, this is the place for them. Learn to Skate is run by the talented and experienced coaches of the Greater Pensacola Figure Skating Club.
You will receive communication and registration information from the Greater Pensacola Figure Skating Club. GPFSC will provide more information about registration fees as the season nears. More information about this program can be found at GPFSC.
All Greater Pensacola Figure Skating Club skaters are required to first register with their club which includes a Learn to Skate USA membership. Membership fees are annual and valid July 1-June 30 containing many benefits, including secondary sports accident insurance.
Sessions will include Basic Skills focusing on the fundamentals of ice skating such as:
- Balance, Standing and Coordination
- Forward and Backward Skating
- Stops
- Edges
- Turns
- Crossovers
**Skaters must master these skills and will receive a written evaluation before moving to their PJIF age group.
Once your child graduates from Learn to Skate, they will be ready for Learn to Play with the Junior Ice Flyers and will be put into the next session being offered.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Pensacola Junior Ice Flyers have a Learn to Skate program?
No, We partner with the with the Greater Pensacola Figure Skating Club! All communication about the LTS program will come from them. Including registration. We help provide a waitlist to them by those that are interested.
When can our Learn to Skate participant move to Learn to Play?
Historically participants shouldn't need more then 1-2 sessions of LTS. PJIF Coaches will come evaluate your participant to see if they are ready to move to Learn to Play.
What qualifications does my participant need in order to move to Learn to Play?
